We are having a lot of fun in the kitchen this fall and this is one of our favorite weeknight dishes! Sausage brings great flavor to the simplest dishes from pasta and couscous to low carb dishes like this.  For this recipe, I chose German sausage called Bratwurst, which is made with finely ground meat and mild seasoning. These typically come precooked, but I like to boil them to enhance the juice and then split them before pan roasting in Olivio.  The sautéed apples bring sweetness and texture and are a great seasonal flavor!

Preparation

  1. Begin by boiling the bratwurst for 5 minutes in 1″ of water.
  2. Drain. Slice the bratwurst in half lengthwise.
  3. Add Olivio to a nonstick pan on medium heat and sauté the onions until translucent.
  4. Add the apples and bratwurst to the pan and cook until lightly browned.
  5. Season with salt and pepper, garnish and serve hot.
